Welcome to Hi Social, and our vision for a new kind of social! 

We take your privacy and transparency very seriously, and it is fundamental to the way we design and build our services and products. Hi Social is committed to becoming an industry thought leader as it relates to user privacy in the internet age.

This Privacy Policy covers Hi Social's treatment of personal information that Hi Social gathers when you are on the Hi Social website and when you use Hi Social services. This policy does not apply to the practices of third parties that Hi Social does not own or control.

Please find Hi Social’s terms of service. By agreeing to Hi Social’s terms of service, you likewise agree to Hi Social’s privacy policy. You will comply with this Agreement and all applicable local, state, national and international laws, rules and regulations, including without limitation, privacy laws, intellectual property laws, anti-spam laws, and regulatory requirements.

By visiting the Hi Social website, registering with Hi Social, or using any Hi Social services, you are accepting and agree to comply with this policy. We understand that everyone is not a lawyer and that a lot of this language is complicated. That’s why below each section, we’ve provided a simpler explanation of the legal terms (note: the simplified version is not legally binding, and is intended as a helpful companion to the fuller specific terms). 

As an initial overview of this privacy policy, we’d like to share our philosophy behind our vision for Hi Social, its services, and our users.

Today’s Social Networks (“Social 1.0”) seek to maximize user screen time and data, minimizing privacy and influencing behavior.

Our vision for Social 2.0 is re-imagining how we use technology to make the real world more social. We want to keep our users off their screens as much as possible, to maximize your privacy, and to use data only as needed, with transparency and consent. Our main metric is to create meaningful in real life interactions and social experiences. 

Information Collected By Us

We only collect personal information that is relevant to the purpose of our website and which is provided to us by you. This information allows us to provide you with a customized and efficient experience.

We collect information to make Hi Social useful for you and to provide a personalized experience.

Information You Provide To Us

1) We receive and store any information you enter on our website or provide to us in any other way. You can choose not to provide us with certain information, but then you may not be able to take advantage of many of our features.

2) Registration: In order for you to use Hi Social services you must complete a registration form. As part of this registration form, we require certain personal information. Our lawful basis for collecting personal information from you is to provide our services and to communicate with you with your consent when you register with us. Our collection of personal information from you is limited to information that we require in order to provide our services to you.

3) User Profile: To allow you to express yourself beyond just the information collected during registration, we enable you to provide additional information, such as your first and last names, email address, personally describing information (on your preferences), and a bio. In addition, you must have at least 1 photo of yourself in your profile. As indicated below, in the section titled "Sharing Your Information", you can control how your information is displayed and used.

4) Additional Information: To enhance your experience, we may ask you additional questions or ask you to identify things you are interested in.

5) You have the right to edit, update, access, or transfer your personal information, or to delete your personal information if you are terminating your registration with Hi Social.

In short,

We collect your registration and user profile data. We do not track or collect geographic location data; this allows us to present a more personalized experience.

Automatic Information

1) For purposes of display/user interface, Hi Social may collect information about the device you're using to access Hi Social and its operating system. Which data is specifically collected depends on the type of device and/or system running on that device. This does not involve collecting any of your personal information.

Communications

Email and push notifications: Hi Social is very concerned about your privacy and will never provide your email address to a third party without your explicit permission, as detailed in the "Sharing Your Information" section below. Hi Social may send out emails with Hi Social-related news, products, offers, surveys, or promotions. You may also receive emails and/or push notifications from Hi Social, which inform you of actions (e.g. new matches or events) that have been performed on the site. We send these notifications to you based on receiving your consent. If you do not want to receive notifications from us, please visit the “Notifications” section of your User Profile and update your settings.  However, please note that in all cases you will continue to receive all system emails (e.g. those regarding forgotten user passwords) and legal notices (e.g. updates to our policies) from us unless you terminate your registration.

In Short,

We will send you emails and push notifications based on your User Profile settings. From time to time, we may send emails to all our users.

Sharing Your Information

We will not rent or sell your personal information to anyone.

We will share your personal information only as described below:

Hi Social Personnel: Hi Social personnel and authorized consultants and/or contractors may have access to user information if necessary in the normal course of Hi Social business.

Business Transfers: In some cases, we may choose to buy or sell assets. In these types of transactions, user information is typically one of the business assets that is transferred. Moreover, if Hi Social, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred.

Protection of Hi Social and Others: We may release personal information when we believe in good faith that release is necessary to comply with a law; to enforce or apply our Terms of Use and other policies; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Hi Social, our employees, our users, or others.

User Profile information: Information collected during registration and subsequent visits, such as your name, photos, and self-description, may be displayed to other Hi Social users in your User Profile. You may control what personal information is displayed in your User Profile by visiting the Settings section of your User Profile.

Data Storage: Hi Social data is stored on secure servers which use the best practices (Amazon Web Services) and in a manner that is consistent with this Policy.

With Your Additional Consent: In any other circumstance (ex. To gain access to a Hi Social event), we will specifically ask you for your consent.

In short,

We do not sell your information to anyone. However, we will show information to other registered users according to your privacy settings. We may share information as required by law. 

Keeping Information and Our Website Secure

Your Hi Social account information is protected by an encrypted password for your privacy and security. Protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer by logging off once you have finished using a shared computer.

Only employees who need personal information to perform a specific job (for example, a systems engineer) are granted temporary access to any of it. All of our employees are kept up to date on our privacy and security practices.

In Short,

Your account is protected by an encrypted password. We keep it secure; you must also keep it safe.

Ways to Control Display and Use of Your Information

As stated previously, you can always opt not to disclose information, but then you may be unable to use certain features on our website.

By visiting your User Profile, you can correct, amend, add, or delete personal information on our website.

If you do not wish to receive email from us, please visit the Settings of your User Profile and/or follow the instructions contained in the unwanted email message.

However, please note that you will continue to receive all system emails (e.g. those regarding forgotten user passwords) and legal notices (e.g. updates to our policies) from us unless you terminate your registration with Hi Social.

In Short,

You can choose not to share information with us, but your experience of the site may be limited. However, until your account is deleted, you may receive all system emails.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

Hi Social may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time, at its sole discretion. Use of information we collect now is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is used. If we make changes to the Privacy Policy, we will notify you by posting an announcement on the Hi Social website so you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances if any, it is disclosed.

Conditions of Use

If you decide to visit Hi Social website, your visit and any possible dispute over privacy is subject to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use, including limitations on damages, arbitration of disputes, and application of Delaware law.
